Gear Blue Moon and the other native British breeds, including a Red Poll, a pure English Hereford and a Welsh Black, were chosen because they’re hardy and easy to handle, as well as for the quality of their genes.
Farmers on the island are looking to boost productivity for beef and milk among their stock of mainly Hereford and Angus cattle. With the insemination period now over, the island awaits the new calves.
